Counselling
Anxiety
Overcoming anxiety is possible. In the early stages of our work, I provide emotional support for living with anxiety whilst we work out potential triggers, patterns and routines around the problem. We then look at treatments for the anxiety that can include meditations, grounding exercises, breathing techniques and guided visualisations. These are not a cure all, and most people will need to challenge their thought processes too. Something we do from both a nurturing place, and a logical challenge perspective.
Burnout and Overwhelm (Neurodiversity experiences included)
Sometimes what feels like anxiety and depression are symptoms of burnout. This is particularly true for the neurodiverse community. Finding patterns and triggers, we look at taking the shame out of your experience. Once you can recognise where you are at in a burnout cycle we can look at ways to anticipate, manage and cope with burnout. Eventually you can identify and implement support networks that allow you to thrive at a rate and pace that works in your best interests.
Depression
Depression can be both functional or de-habilitating. Whatever manifestation you experience a key component in recovery from depression is reconnecting with the lovable part of yourself, that part of you worthy of compassion, nurturing and happiness. That part of you exists, and honouring them will enable you to reprioritise, recalibrate and begin anew. Counselling can be used with or without medication as prescribed by your doctor, as appropriate. I do not recommend changing any medication without consulting with your doctor first.
Stress management
Working out how to move out of a stressful environment can be overwhelming and physically exhausting. You might find yourself continuously ill. It's at this point that counselling can assist you in reprioritising yourself and your health, by confronting some of those long held beliefs that keep you feeling trapped. Develop resilience by finding your power, asserting your boundaries and understanding your limits.
